Survivor Series Redux: Final

INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE: (c) THE MIZ VS. SAMI ZAYN

This is a pleasant surprise, but seems to be the right way to go about this. Ziggler winning the title was a great sight to see, but his reign didn’t go as planned. The narrative of two underdogs facing off against each other also isn’t as enticing as the formulaic heel vs. face story. With Maryse, Kenny, and Mikey at his disposal, Sami Zayn is the clear underdog. And something tells me with this change in opponent, Sami Zayn will not be walking out of Survivor Series as a champion.

PREDICTION: THE MIZ RETAINS

CRUISERWEIGHT TITLE: (c) BRIAN KENDRICK VS. KALISTO

It would have been smarter to allow Sin Cara to pin Brian Kendrick on RAW. This way, it adds to the story of the ramifications to the match. With Kendrick losing to Sin Cara, who can arguably be considered the weaker performer between him and Kalisto, it would add more narrative to Kendrick’s tactics and the match itself. But after thinking more about the pros and cons to the move to Smackdown, Kalisto could conceivably win the title and bring the division to Smackdown. Though RAW may be the bigger show, Smackdown is the show that focuses more on the in-ring work. And that’s where the cruiserweights will inevitably be able to shine more.

PREDICTION: KALISTO WINS THE TITLE

WOMEN RAW VS. SMACKDOWN

Team Raw

  • Charlotte (Captain)
  • Bayley
  • Nia Jax
  • Alicia Fox
  • Sasha Banks
    • Dana Brooke

Team Smackdown

  • Nikki Bella (Captain)
  • Alexa Bliss
  • Carmella
  • Becky Lynch
  • Naomi
    • Natalya

With the recent episodes, this match could be closer than I had originally predicted. Though I say it’s closer, this is still Team RAW’s match to lose. Let’s just get this out of the way and say that Naomi and Alicia Fox are not surviving this match. Nia Jax just demonstrated that she could be counted out to keep her unbeaten streak alive by crashing through the barricade. And something tells me that Nikki Bella and Becky Lynch will be the last women standing for Smackdown. They’ll be able to take out Bayley with a quick roll-up, but they will not prevail.

PREDICTION: CHARLOTTE AND SASHA BANKS ARE THE SURVIVORS

TAG TEAM RAW VS. SMACKDOWN

TEAM RAW

  • The New Day (Captains)
  • Gallows and Anderson
  • Enzo and Big Cass
  • Sheamus and Cesaro
  • The Shining Stars

TEAM SMACKDOWN

  • Heath Slater and Rhyno (Captains)
  • The Hype Bros.
  • American Alpha
  • The Usos
  • Breezango

Well finally they confirmed that if one person from a tag-team is eliminated, their respective partner is eliminated as well. That’s going to save a hell of a lot of time. With Gallows and Anderson claiming that they wouldn’t hesitate to stab on of their teams in the back, I feel like this is a red herring. Team RAW is full of tension while Team Smackdown worked more cohesively as a team. But expect The Usos to turn on team blue and have a hand in the elimination of Slater and Rhyno. This will leave American Alpha alone to fight off team red. Like I’ve been saying, American Alpha’s gutsy performance will elevate their stock.

PREDICTION: THE NEW DAY AND GALLOWS & ANDERSON SURVIVE

TEAM RAW

  • Kevin Owens (Co-captain)
  • Chris Jericho (Co-captain)
  • Roman Reigns
  • Braun Strowman
  • Seth Rollins

TEAM SMACKDOWN

  • AJ Styles (Captain)
  • Dean Ambrose
  • Bray Wyatt
  • Randy Orton
  • Shane McMahon
    • James Ellsworth (mascot)

Undertaker’s appearance has thrown a few doubts over Smackdown pulling off the victory here. His threat is pretty much an invitation to start a feud. And if we are looking at the way RAW ended, it seems as though Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins will be going deep into the match, which is a scary thought for Smackdown as Reigns and Rollins were tag team champions at one point.

Braun Strowman will most likely be eliminated in a way similar to Nia Jax. Kevin Owens will leave Jericho, causing both eliminations. But the impeccable teaming of Rollins and Reigns will pull through for the most part. But I stand by prediction still. Bray Wyatt has Luke Harper and Randy Orton at his disposal and WWE would be stupid to not exploit that. It doesn’t matter if Orton is eliminated, it is inevitable that he will return and Luke Harper’s appearance will distract whoever remains to allow Bray Wyatt to execute Sister Abigail.

PREDICTION: BRAY WYATT IS THE SOLE SURVIVOR
